We did a lot in 2022

Reflections on the year

In 2022, we did some big bold things
— we moved into a new office in Denver and we opened up a satellite office in Vermont. We broke ground on the redevelopment of a family-owned slaughter and processing facility. We transitioned from hosting annual retreats to hosting our first team LEAP week because words are important and we wanted to take time to slow down and huddle up before leaping forward. We welcomed new team members and embraced the important work of making space for them, allowing them to move into and shape our cultural knit. We challenged our past perspective and brought our current values from conversation and ideation into policy within our organization by producing a new employee handbook and bringing salary transparency to our company.

And we did some more subtle things— we took soil samples across different landscapes, we created new templates, and tried new virtual project management tools. We cooked and ate a lot of really delicious meals together. Topics, recipes and jokes about potatoes continue to be an important theme for our team. Is there a more versatile and delicious vegetable?

During these colder winter months, we take time to reflect on our lessons learned from the past year to help us build goals, plans and intentions for the seasons ahead. During this process, we have uncovered a wonderful array of photos that help represent the fullness of last year— including its successes, missteps, shared meals, laughter and joy.

We are grateful for this work, for our team, and the communities and landscapes that we spend time with. Here is to all of the learnings and questions that lay ahead in this year of 2023—

With gratitude (and fried potatoes),

Meriwether & Morgan

January 2022

In January, we emerged from our year end / year beginning break, and snow fell in every state we work in, including here in Colorado (as pictured) and as well as on the top of Haleakala* in Maui.

A note about the Hawaiian language: we recognize the proper use of Hawaiian diacritical marks including the ‘okina [‘] and the kahakō [ō]. We understand the importance of representing the Hawaiian language in its entirety but have omitted these from our website to help users with their online experience.
